A different view on the hugely imprseeive avenue of Giant Redwwod trees at Heatherside. Planted by the owner of a nearby nursery in 1865 these would have been amongst the first redwoods planted this side of the Atlantic, as they were only introduced into the UK in the previous decade. There would have been near 250 in this immense parade, and to this day, there are still over 200 left standing, despite houses and roads and recreation areas being built around them. A hugely impressive sight, but still comparative toddlers in the potential lifetime of these giants.
