A new springtail for me, at least photographically. I've seen this one may times, but failed to get even a publishable shot until now! Once they are disturbed from their dark hiding place (this one was under bark on a rotting twig) they don't hang around long. It shuffled off a little slower than usual, and I grabbed a few shots. Usually the golden rule of macro is to at least get the eye in focus, but while I know that these have eyes (albeit with only threee ocelli in each) I'll be damned if I can spot them amongst the nobbly exteriors of these 2mm collembolans!
